Welcome to GoldX, where innovation meets social responsibility in the world of Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM). Our journey began in 2022 when a passionate team of visionaries united with a shared mission: to revolutionize ASGM by addressing its most pressing challenges—environmental sustainability, social empowerment, and economic growth.
At GoldX, we see gold mining not only as a source of precious metal but as a force for positive change. We envision a world where responsible mining practices, community engagement, and ethical trade converge to create an enduring and inclusive gold mining ecosystem.
Our startup company is at the forefront of advocating for environmentally-friendly mining techniques that champion mercury-free technologies, minimize ecological impact, and safeguard local ecosystems. In partnership with the National Coalition of Small-Scale Miners, we are unwavering in our commitment to supporting miners, eradicating child labor, promoting safe practices, mitigating health risks, and championing responsible resource management.
Central to our ethos is community empowerment. GoldX collaborates intimately with ASGM communities, establishing physical buying stations and assay laboratories. This initiative empowers miners by ensuring they receive fair prices for their gold, reducing their reliance on intermediaries, and fostering economic independence.
We bridge ASGM communities directly to legitimate markets, guaranteeing fair prices and assisting in the process of bringing gold from the Minahang Bayan to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to bolster the country’s gold reserves. Through strategic partnerships with regulatory bodies and financial institutions, GoldX forges direct market connections for responsibly sourced gold. This ensures miners receive equitable prices and fosters adherence to ethical mining practices. Our unwavering commitment to transparency and community programs aims to fortify local economies and combat the 90-95% loss of Philippine gold due to smuggling and the black market.
GoldX’s inception is rooted in our innovative journey. We are students at the Asian Institute of Management pursuing our Masters in Innovation and Business. It all began in July 2022 during a brainstorming session at a Japanese restaurant in Pasig City. Amidst the challenges posed by super typhoon Karding, we braved an overnight trip from Manila to Labo, Camarines Norte. As we trekked the mountains to a remote Minahang Bayan, we interviewed the small-scale gold miners and learned the challenges their families face. Their stories transformed our perspective. We realized that our class project could become a powerful social innovation. GoldX Groundup Ventures Corporation has been duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 28 November 2022.
In the months that followed, we forged pivotal partnerships with the National Coalition of Small-Scale Miners, officials of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and ASGM miners in Mindanao. By February 2023, our social innovation model, Empowerment Gold, had taken shape. We signed our first memorandum of agreement with an ASGM cooperative in Agusan del Sur in March 2023, received our inaugural angel investment in July 2023, and successfully conducted our first gold logistics transaction in August 2023. We also filed for a trademark on Empowerment Gold with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) in August 2023
